School Meals
The catering supplier for Wellington Community Primary School is Chartwells.
At Chartwells, we create lifelong memorable moments at 1,800 schools nationwide. We're committed to making nutritious, delicious food available to every pupil, and our menus are created to ensure healthy bodies and minds.
As leading primary school caterers, we know how important it is to get children excited about food whilst educating and encouraging them to develop positive relationships with it. Our menus and concepts make it fun for pupils, with multi-sensory themed days throughout the year that encourage pupils to try something new.
Our dedicated team of nutritionists and primary school food ambassadors drive key initiatives and deliver fun, interactive activities, raising school meal uptake in the process.
Every year, we deliver around 50,000 fun, educational sessions as part of our award-winning ‘Beyond The Chartwells Kitchen’ programme. Meanwhile, through our Super Yummy Kitchen initiative, we encourage pupils and parents to bring our recipes to life at home!
We also work directly with Chef Allegra McEvedy, known for her cookery work on CBBC's Step Up To The Plate and Junior Bake Off, who creates her own range of exciting new dishes exclusively for our primary schools.
The school meal price in Hampshire from January 2025 is £2.75.
Payment for school meals can be made through our online payment system, Arbor.

We can provide special diets for pupils with allergies who want to have a school lunch. Special diets are provided for pupils with a medical problem, not just a dislike of certain food and medical evidence confirming the child's allergy will be required. Universal Infant Free School Meals
All children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 are able to have a school meal at lunchtime, free of charge. This applies to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and requires no registration. Each child is entitled to a hot, two course meal at their school which will include a meat, non-meat or jacket potato main item, vegetables/salad, pasta/rice/potato, and a dessert.
Parents who meet the standard free meal criteria, are encouraged to register, even if their children are in Key Stage 1 as eligibility provides additional funding for schools in the form of Pupil Premium, further helping to support children.
Parents should contact school initially with queries about Universal Infant Free Schools Meals, but can also contact our caterers by calling 023 8062 9388 or by emailing hc3s.support@hants.gov.uk if further clarification is required.
